The standard of clinical excellence at Epic is an ever-increasing one. We are continually moving the bar forward. From our rigorous screening and testing methodologies during the hiring process to our concerted initiatives in the areas of continuing education and professional development, Epic remains dedicated to hiring, cultivating and enhancing the quality of care delivered by our nurses and therapists.

We invest in the clinicians taking care of our patients by offering a variety of flexible in-person and online training opportunities including nursing skill labs, instructor-led training courses and an Epic online learning system.

Nursing Skill Labs

Nursing skill labs allow nurses to strengthen and practice their clinical skills before going into the homes to provide care. Each lab is led by a nursing supervisor, director or a respiratory therapist and features a life-like doll that has a tracheostomy and gastrostomy.

Nurses perform basic care and emergency procedures on the doll while team leaders assess their skill levels and provide feedback.

Procedures taught in skill labs include:

  • Tracheostomy/Ventilator Basic and Emergency Care
  • Care of a Patient Receiving Intravenous (IV) Therapy
  • Early Recognition of Pediatric Emergencies
  • Infection Prevention

Skill labs are conducted weekly at each of Epic’s branch offices and on an ad-hoc, as needed basis.

Training Courses

Our instructor-led clinical training courses cover topics such as gastrostomy tube management, central line infusion/site management and tracheostomy/ventilator.

Each training course is tailored to meet the specific needs of our nurses and patients.

Online Learning System

Epic Learning is an online learning system which features training courses in a variety of topics related to home health care and professional development.

  • Tracheostomy & Ventilator Training
