At Epic, our patients are part of our extended family. In addition to providing exceptional care for the children we serve, we enjoy celebrating major milestones with them and their families.
On July 18, our Katy office co-hosted a Minnie Mouse-themed homecoming party for 9-month-old Valentina, a pediatric skilled nursing patient.
Valentina has been hospitalized since birth and has spent the last nine months in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) of Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas.
“After nine months in the hospital, Valentina’s discharge was definitely worth celebrating,” said Aaron Burris, executive director. “She is a resilient little girl, and we are all so glad to see that she is able to go home.”
In an effort to earn the hospital’s permission to host a party for Valentina, O.J. Lozano, an Epic client relations director, spent weeks establishing relationships throughout the NICU and introducing the nurses to Valentina’s family.
Because of his diligence, Epic was allowed to co-host a homecoming party with the NICU nurses for this sweet little girl.
In doing so, Epic became the first agency to host a discharge party in the hospital’s NICU.
In addition to Aaron and O.J., Epic team members Heather Bustamante, client relations director and Thuy-Ai Tran, nursing supervisor, were also in attendance.
The party was held in the Milk Bank conference room and was attended by Valentina’s family as well as several NICU nurses.
“We were excited to be able to celebrate her homecoming with her family and her caregivers at Texas Children’s Hospital,” said O.J. “It is truly an honor to welcome Valentina into our Epic Family and we look forward to providing her with the best care possible.”
Welcome to the Epic Family, Valentina!
