As part of our ongoing effort to provide Epic care to our patients, we regularly aim to improve the delivery of our pediatric therapy services.
One way we do that is by offering continuing education unit (CEU) opportunities for our therapists to ensure they stay ahead of the curve in providing the best possible care for our patients.
Last week, approximately 50 pediatric therapists gathered in San Antonio, Texas, to attend, “Specialized Brain Gym® Workshop,” an Epic-hosted CEU course focused on ways to incorporate different movement patterns and sensory components for treatment in children.
Brain Gym® is an all-day workshop with proven brain fitness methods that improve learning and performance skills in children, adults and seniors. It promotes efficient communication between the brain and the body and reduces stress.
The workshop was led by guest speaker, June Smith OTR/L, a licensed Brain Gym® consultant and instructor for the Brain Gym® 101 and 170 course. She is one of six instructors in the world certified to teach Brain Gym® for children who have special needs.
The event served as a professional development opportunity for therapists and encouraged team building among all of the therapy disciplines in attendance.
